The increase in the frequency and severity of extreme weather incidents due to climate change is causing growing environmental, social and economic issues. The private sector has a very important role in tackling climate change and transition to low carbon economy. Even though combating climate change has different focal points for companies operating in different industries, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and sharing relevant goals and performance in a transparently could be considered as common points for all players.
Carbon Disclosure Project - CDP provides a global platform where publicly held companies can share their strategy, risk management approach and relevant performances disclosures in climate change, water, forests and supply chain areas to encourage these companies to fulfill their responsibilities. Selected as the most powerful green non-governmental organization by Harvard Business Review, CDP is accepted as the most common environmental reporting system of the world.
